Ceramic | Glass

Glass painting was a new medium for me. Upon the invitation of Linn Stokke and Atle Brynestad from Steninge Slott, Sweden, I went to Lindshammar Glasbruk in the middle of the Glass Kingdom of Sweden to try my hand at glass painting.

"Endless Nights" is what I call this series, as I had a marathon of sleepless days and nights working in the factory during the month of August, when stonner was forever in this part of the world. I had so much fun and would take breaks and go to the forest and pick wild berries: blue, red, green and many other variations of colors. I would feed myself and go back to the factory immensely happy and ready to work.

I love berries and began painting plates with these berries in mind. This was followed by the vegetables I found in the area like beetroot, radish, mushrooms and other varieties. Then a storm occured nearby, which inspired me to work on a series on storms as it reminded me of home on the island of Batanes, the northern part of the Philippines.

I had made two to three variations of each plate, which are just samples that could be modified, embellished and developed on a later date. I also tried painting on blocks and medallions to get better feel of the glass.
